Support Services

What Support Services do we offer?

Accommodation

Tarka housing currently has 16 sheltered housing schemes for older persons throughout the Torridge area.

These schemes provide affordable accommodation, with many of the dwellings benefiting from facilities such as communal rooms, laundries, guest bedrooms and support visits from our own members of Staff.

We also have 335 designated elderly properties. These properties are reserved for older people or applicants who have a support need.

Helpline service

24 Hour Help at the touch of a button.

Tarka’s Emergency helpline service provides reassurance and peace of mind for the elderly, disabled or vulnerable person such as those who have recently been discharged from hospital, are victims of domestic violence, or persons experiencing any other harassment problems.

An emergency helpline unit is fitted in all our sheltered accommodation and designated older persons accommodation.

Tarka Housing can also arrange for an emergency help line unit to be fitted into most other dwellings including private rental and home owners where there is a suitable land line phone fitted.

Visiting Support

Currently we have a team of staff who carry out Support visits to our sheltered tenants.

These visits support tenants in maintaining independence and offer advice on benefits and financial issues.

During 2010 we intend to offer this service to people living in the wider community.
